What We Do
Interfaith Family Shelter Program
A collaborative effort uniting community sites and congregations to provide shelter, meals and case management to families experiencing homelessness. Host sites shelter families on a rotating schedule. Volunteers provide guest families with: shelter, safety and meals with a spirit of hospitality. No religious activities are conducted.
Homeless Prevention Program
Direct Housing Assistance: provides financial assistance for housing payments to families with a history of stable, independent living, facing unforeseen circumstances. Over 90% of those served avoid a close call with homelessness.
Resource Linkage/Emergency Services
offers a food pantry, service referrals and support. Families are supplied with diapers, personal care products, emergency food, and the use of a phone as needed to get through a difficult month’s time.
Children and Youth Program
offers homeless and low-income children a safe place, recreational activities, wellness education and service projects. An after school program provides tutoring and activities from 3-5pm each school day. Our summer program provides educational activities Monday Friday for children ages 5+.
Affordable/Transformational Housing Program
offers families safe, decent homes in a 20-unit apartment building offering four units of transformational (transitional) housing and 16 units of long term affordable housing. Families receive assistance accessing education, job training, health, child care and other community services.
Wellness Project
Growing Home coordinates classes in partnership with local experts and offers weekly group education to shelter guests.
