Housing the Homeless
Families with children make up over half of the Metro Denver homeless population. On a typical night, more than 3,200 children do not have a place to call home. Growing Home’s direct approach to caring for homeless families and families struggling to avoid becoming homeless is uniquely successful.

Our services include

Interfaith Family Shelter: We shelter children and their families and assist their move out of crisis. Using the Interfaith Hospitality Network Model, families stay in shelter for up to two months. Volunteers cook all the meals and “host” families over night in a “neighbor to neighbor” approach that reconnects homeless families with the community. Case managers help families create plans and set goals in the areas of housing, employment, education, parenting and health. Growing Home offers life skills classes, solution-focused counseling, and job-readiness coaching and support. Over 80% of shelter graduates move out into stable, long-term housing.

Homeless Prevention: Growing Home works to prevent family homelessness by helping with one month’s rent or mortgage payment, budget counseling and three months’ support. Over 90% of families helped avoid homelessness and remain stabile in their housing.

Affordable/Transformational Housing
: Growing Home develops and maintains affordable housing for families. We currently operate 16 affordable and 4 transformational housing units. Transformational housing is uniquely designed to support parents who want to go back to school or fulfill other dreams for their family’s success.

Resource Linkage: Often families in crisis do not know where to turn for help. Even when Growing Home cannot directly help with a family’s specific request, we can point them in the right direction, with phone numbers, information and tips for getting the help they need.
