Housing the Homeless
Families with children make up over half of the Metro Denver homeless population. On a typical night, more than 3,200 children do not have a place to call home. Growing Home’s direct approach to caring for homeless families and providing assistance to those families who are struggling to avoid becoming homeless, is uniquely successful. Learn more..
Feeding Families
Right now, one it ten families does not have enough to eat in Colorado, and, in today’s economy, hunger is growing fast. Over half of a child’s brain development occurs during their first five years, and children who suffer from lack of nutrition in these early years face significant disadvantage succeeding in this critical development. Caring for Children
Our core philosophy is that parents are their children’s first and most significant teacher. Learning begins well before formal schooling; research shows that children who begin school with a learning gap stay behind for their entire school careers. By age four years children who live below the poverty line are, on average, eighteen months developmentally behind; by age ten that gap is still present. Wellness Project
Growing Home knows that illness, lack of medical coverage or other health problems can often be a barrier to a family’s dreams of success. Growing Home offers a variety of services to help families on the path to wellness and includes free care with partner doctors and nurses, immunizations, nutrition and wellness classes, and help getting health coverage. In addition, Growing Home incorporates nutrition and wellness education in each of our core programs and includes physical activity everyday in all children’s activities. Learn more..
